THE 3 JEEPS STORY

Welcome to the web site of The Three Jeeps Family & how we became The Three Jeeps Family

Nearly 30 years ago I purchased my first 4x4, a second-hand 1969 Toyota Landcruiser SWB FJ40 & became a member of the Sydney Toyota Landcruiser Club. Most of my wheelin was done in the sand dunes at Kurnell, fishing & diving at Little Boat Harbour, Stockton Beach Newcastle, Fraser Is. & Stradbroke Is with the odd trip to Hill End in Bathurst.

I enjoyed a number of years wheelin in the F40 & making modifications, 350 Chevy V8, lift, bigger wheels, seats etc. Then I became a family man & the FJ40 had to go in favour of a Landcruiser Wagon FJ55. Whilst I made some mod’s to this vehicle & travel the length & breath of east coast of Australia, it never won my heart like the FJ40. As the family grew up & dollars channel elsewhere, I said good bye to 4WDing again.

Nearly 20 years later, Gov. introduced a new thing called salary sacrifice (leased vehicles). I had suddenly found a new way of having a 4WD. After doing the sums, I ended up with a 2000 Holden Jackaroo Monterey, we then purchased a tent camper trailer and clock up 150,000km over the next 4 years. Snowy High country both NSW & Victoria, Broken Hill, The Murray River, Robe, Eyre Peninsular, Flinders Ranges, Tasmania

But all good things seem to always end and the lease ran out & my employer decided to go with the Novated leasing. This increased the cost almost two fold. We now found ourselves again 4WDless. After 12 months later we made the decision to keep the camper trailer & buy another 4WD.

Our Jeep saga had began. In February 2004 we the traded in the wife’s car at Werribee Jeep Dealership for a new Jeep KJ Cherokee Limited 3.7L, we joined the Melbourne Jeep Owners Club & I discovered EBay, we purchase mostly cosmetic items for the KJ, except the 115lt fuel tank. We also traded the tent trailer in on a Jayco camper van. The KJ is a nice vehicle which my wife love to drive,

I still hungered for the FJ40 type 4WD. In January 05 we were passing Werribee Jeep Dealership & they had a smart looking black TJ on display, we decided to have a look as I had always been fond of this model Jeep.

We left there 2 hours later after buying a new Jeep TJ Wrangler Renegade 6 speed. Again another twist in our lives, our daughter & 2 grandson moved back home with us. The KJ suddenly became too small for 3 adults, 2 babies & prams.

Again at Werribee Jeep Dealership we traded the KJ for a second hand 04 Grand Cherokee Limited demo with 8,000km, Again another twist in my life, my left knee had became a nightmare with 2 operations in 6 weeks & internal bleeding with a possible knee replace looming. We now need another automatic, so we trade the daughters car in on an 06 Jeep Wrangler Sport 4 speed Automatic
